Miami DUI Attorney

Being arrested for DUI is not uncommon, but this does not exempt arrestees from needing a skilled Miami criminal lawyer on their side after the fact. The State of Florida treats driving under the influence very seriously. If you have been pulled over and were found to have a blood alcohol content of over 0.08%, and are charged with driving under the influence, you could be facing extremely harsh penalties, including jail time. If you are under 21, the legal limit is even lower at 0.02%. What most drivers do not realize is that consumption of only one or two drinks will put your blood alcohol level over the legal limit. This is why you need a skilled legal representation on your side.

If this is your first DUI/BUI, you could be facing the following penalties:

  • Fines of $250 to $500 - If you have a BAC of 0.20 or higher, or were driving with a minor in the car, your fine can be anywhere from $500 to $1000.
  • Community service - You can choose a mandatory 50 hours or an additional fine of $10 per required hour.
  • Probation of no more than one year
  • Jail time ranging from eight hours to six months - With a BAC of 0.20 or higher, the sentence could last nine months.
  • Vehicle impoundment for 10 days (not counted during your incarceration)
  • Driver's license revoked for a six-month minimum

After the first DUI conviction, the penalties only get stiffer. If you are charged with any kind of drunk driving offense in Florida, it is essential that you get help with your case.
